EVENT // Sunday Roast

Sunday Roast - October 2015 (1)

Hi Everyone!

When I realised this was to be Goldtoast’s 30th official event I thought it would be nice to do something special for everyone who has supported us over the years. So we’re putting on a Sunday Roast just for our past and regular secret supper attendees! If you’ve only come along once, or come along as often as you can manage I hope you know how much I appreciate you.

The evening will, as always, start with a complementary cocktail followed by a little mingling time over some baked brie & tasty dips. I’m planning on doing a four-hour slow-roasted shoulder of lamb, roast chicken thighs with sage orange and juniper berries (probably some tofu too) plus some glorious veg. We’ll end with Pannacotta with Rhubarb & Strawberries and some delicious Tea Potion tea – Persian Passion, Queens Potion and Green tea with Apricot & Peach from our last events.

I am very much looking forward to being able to sit down and enjoy a meal with you all!

Date: 5pm, Sunday 18th October 2015
Location: Palm Beach. Exact location only disclosed after payment, usually a few days before the event.
Cost: $30 donation, all inclusive. BYO welcome.

Can’t eat something?: If you have any other food intolerance/allergy please email us before paying to check if we can accommodate your needs, some menus aren’t very flexible but we always try and make it possible for you to attend!

Book & Prepay: This event is exclusively for past supper club attendees. If you have been along to any of our events and would like to come along to our Sunday Roast then please email us at goldtoast.supperclub@gmail.com to RSVP and we will reply with the paypal link.

RECIPE // THE CHESHIRE CAT’S WELSH RAREBIT WITH MUSHROOMS & THYME

At our Brunch in Wonderland the savoury hit was the definitely the mushroom dish. For me it was one of dishes with the most wonderland silliness! My announcement of “It was made with Cheshire Cheese, like the Cheshire Cat haha” was followed by the quote of the day “Oh yeah, I can taste that smile”. Plus there was the joy of rarebit/rabbit, thyme/time and of course the mushrooms. All served on a teacup shaped piece of Rye toast.

You can check out the rest of the Brunch in Wonderland menu here.

And for everyone who asked about the delicious sauce with the mushrooms, here is the recipe!

The Orange Harvest

Years of throwing the remnants of our Primary School lunchboxes into the bush, before mum could find out we didn’t eat our fruit, has finally paid off! Today I decided to head out beyond the walkway, along the dog made path and further into the scrub to harvest what we thought were oranges.  This tree has been here for years now but I am unsure if any one has ever ventured out to it. It turns out they are orange shaped with mandarin skin and taste like lemons. No idea. Now I’m suffering from a serious case of the creepy crawlies but it was all worth it, I guess.

Bill & George

It’s been a good few years since I watched Masterchef. Season 1-4 I watched religiously, then there was a battle of the sexes type promo which I think sorta grossed me out, girls in pink baking cakes vs boys in blue barbequing. VOM.
This year I made myself watch the first episode and it was great again! And then there was Maggie Beer, sweet and my absolute favourite.  Then Marco Pierre White being all supportive and handsome. Then all my favourites from the early masterchefs. Hi, my name is Bree and I’m a Masterchef addict. Yep.

I am delighted for Billie and Georgia! What a pair of talented cuties!

Now it’s all over and I’ll be watching The Voice. Yep.
